Thomas "Tom" David Hoots

Thomas “Tom” David Hoots, age 88 of Kingsport, TN, entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, October 23, 2022. Tom was born on October 22, 1934 in Hendersonville, NC to Everett and Esther Hoots. Tom proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. On July 3, 1955, Tom married his most cherished friend and love of his life, Inez Steele, and after 67 years of a beautiful life together and raising a family, Tom was called home to be with the Lord. Tom loved his family and loved his life. He was an innovator and inventor. He enjoyed carpentry, wood working, remodeling homes with his wife, and gardening. He could always be found tinkering with some new project. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Hoots; daughter, Clara Thomas; great granddaughter, Alyssa; four sisters; and three brothers. Left to cherish Tom’s memory are his loving wife, Inez “Caye” Hoots; son, Andrew Hoots and wife Linda; daughters, Eileen Regnier and husband Rick, Esther Stepp and husband Lester, and Jeanette Dunst and husband Russ; grandchildren, Amy, Randall, Ricky, Brian, Jaci, Jessica, Andy, Amber, Sarah, Christina, Serena, and Justin; great grandchildren, Jason, Kayla, Shaelyn, Mikey, Hailey, Jeremiah, Jacob, Riley, Bennett, Penelope, Sophie, Holden, and Brennan; great great grandchild, Raylinn; and many loving nieces, nephews, and family members. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Carter Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm with Bill Denk officiating. A military graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 11:00 am at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hendersonville, NC with Loren Spellman officiating. Tom’s family will be serving as pallbearers. Carter Trent Funeral Home Kingsport is serving the Hoots family.
