Laurence Howe
July 18th, 1936 - July 1st, 2015
Laurence “Larry” John Howe, 78, of Bennett, Colorado passed away July 1st, 2015 peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family, after a gallant fight against Leukemia. He was born to Laurence and Grace (Ludwig) Howe in Billings, MT on July 18th, 1936. He graduated from Plevna High School in Plevna, MT in 1954, served in the US Navy from 1955 to 1958 and then received a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Arizona State University in 1965. Larry married Frances L. Howe (Johnson), May 22nd, 1965, they were married 50 years. Larry began a long career in the aerospace industry as an Electronics Engineer for Hughes Aircraft, which later became Raytheon after several acquisitions. He retired from Raytheon and continued working in the industry until 2012, when he retired completely at age 75. Larry was a mule and donkey enthusiast, he loved riding, driving, and being around the animals and their people and was a member of Rocky Mountain Long Ears Association. He was always quick to find humor in the situation and to crack a joke whenever possible and had a passion for mentoring and helping everyone he knew. Larry is survived by his wife Fran of Bennett, daughter Kathi (Jeff) Johnson of Hillsboro, MO; son Jake of Bennett; grandchildren Daryl (Alex), Bobby, J.D., Grace, Destiny and Great Grandson Ethan also of Hillsboro, MO; Sister Grace (Bob) Knudson of Demming, NM; and lifelong friend Jim (Marilyn) Stromberg of Stevensville, MT. He also leaves behind several cousins, nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends and colleagues who played very important roles in his life. Larry was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial celebration of his life was held, July 8th, at Comanche Crossing Museum in Strasburg, CO.
