Michael "Tex" Fernand
May 10th, 1920 - November 27th, 2013
Lexington, Kentucky Michael A. "Tex" Fernand, 93, husband of 66 years to Bernice (Ward) passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Thomson Hood Veteran Center, Wilmore Kentucky. Born May 10, 1920 in San Antonio, Texas. His father was from Spain and mother from Italy. He served in Europe during WWII, returning to Lexington, Kentucky, where he met Bernice, later marrying her and raising their family. Michael served in the Army Reserve with the 100th Division, last assignment before retiring was Command Sergeant Major of the 100th Division. He retired from the VA Hospital after several years of service. He is survived by three children, Michael Kim (Debbie) Fernand, Tina Catherine (Ronnie) Stewart, Rickey Anthony (Pam) Fernand and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Visitation will be at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing, from 12-1 PM, Tuesday, December 3, 2013; funeral service will follow at 1 PM with Father Clay. Burial services with Military Honor Guard will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery at 2:30.
