Thelma Lee Woods

Thelma Lee Woods, 95, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 7, 2023 at her home. She was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County and was of the Baptist faith. Thelma was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, R. J. Woods; sons, Roger and Rick Woods; grandchildren, Kathy and Marty Eaton; one great grandchild; parents, Arthur and Ellen Leonard; sisters, Juanita Hicks and Eva Ketron; brothers, Narvel and Lester Leonard. Survivors include her daughters, Joyce McLain and husband Ed, Sandra McMillion and husband Randy; son, Ronnie “Runt” Woods and wife Neena; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; sister, Madge Garland and husband Johnny; along with a host of friends and extended family. A graveside service will be conducted at 4pm on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Hermon UMC Cemetery at 5395 E. Carters Valley Rd. Gate City, VA with Brother Ed McLain and Bro. Randy McMillion officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 3:50pm. Carter-Trent Funeral Home is serving the Woods family.
