James Franklin Woods, 62, of Church Hill went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday July 6, 2018. James was born on May 20, 1956 to James Billy Woods and Joyce C. Woods in Kingsport. He was a man of God who loved life and all the people that surrounded him. James is survived by his devoted wife, Sandy Woods; daughter, Kayla Woods; his parents, James and Joyce Woods; stepdaughters, Deanna Cox and Courtney Ward; stepson, William Ward; grandchildren, Parker Daniel Housewright and Parker Cheyenne Dineen; sister, Freda Lane; aunt, Shirley Merritt; special friend and cousin, Chris Powell; and several other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 9th, 2018 from 5pm to 7pm at Carter Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill. A funeral service will follow with Bishop Robert Stockinger and Dr. Benny Woods officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in James’ memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142. Carter Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the Woods Family.
