Kenneth Russell Bergman
May 16th, 1921 - February 10th, 2021
Kenneth Russell Bergman passed away at Swedish Hospital in Seattle on February 10, 2021, just three months shy of his 100th birthday. He was born May 16, 1921 in Wiley, Colorado. Ken graduated from Canyon City High School in 1939 where he played football, basketball & was on the ROTC Rifle Team. He joined the Navy in 1942, completed sonar school & Navy Salvage School. It was during his time on the East Coast that “I decided my life was missing something so I proposed to Ruth Helen long distance, bought an engagement ring, and prayed for the war to end.” He was discharged in 1945 and married Ruth Helen Maurer in 1946. Ken graduated from the University of Washington in Mechanical Engineering in 1950 (& remained a devoted Husky fan the rest of his life). He & his family were very proud of the heavy duty cranes he designed and built during his career with Products Engineering Company of Kent, WA. Ken and Helen had three daughters. Ken was a skilled carpenter and plumber and could fix almost anything. His toolbox was always at the ready! He loved to fish, dance and golf. His quiet warmth and humor were always there for friends and family. We will miss him dearly. Ken is survived by his beloved wife of 74 years, Helen; daughters Beverly, Barbara (Tim) and Janice (Alan); grandson Kyle; nieces and nephews in Colorado. Special thanks to friends and staff at Garden Court for their help and support. Helen passed away the month following Bergie. To read Helen’s obituary click here: Helen
