John Arne Hofto
May 28th, 1946 - September 6th, 2021
John Arne Hofto, age 75, passed away peacefully at home, September 6, 2021, surrounded by family and close friends. He was born on May 28, 1946 in Seattle Wa. and grew up in the Broadview area of Seattle. He had many fond memories of going fishing at Carkeek Park as a young boy. He was the eldest of five children. He graduated from St. Martin’s High School, an all boys boarding school, class of 1965, and always attributed his success in life to that experience. He was a long time resident of Edmonds Washington. He found a true calling and talent as a general contractor and developer building homes and small apartment complexes in the Edmonds, Lynnwood, Bothell, Brier, Mukilteo and Kirkland area. He truly loved what he did for close to 35 years and felt fortunate to be successful in that business. He had a life-long passion for fishing and traveled all over the country and world to enjoy the sport. The last 15 years he and his wife enjoyed traveling to Europe with close friends and also made dear friends with fellow travelers they met overseas. There wasn’t a cuisine he did not want to sample and always loved a good meal, glass of wine, conversation and laughter. He truly enjoyed life and was full of energy and optimism. He is survived by his wife Alice (of 43 years), son Alex (wife Jennifer and grandchildren Violet and Leo) and his daughter Celeste (husband Rob Beall and grandchildren Kolve and Stella). He was blessed to have had many friends over the years who enriched his life immensely. He will be dearly missed by all. The family would like to thank Providence Hospice and Home Watch Caregivers for their compassionate care in his final days.
