Lexington, KY Agnes M. (Silva) Carty, 82, died December 28, 2015. She is survived by her husband John J. Carty; daughters Stephanie (Scott) Loeser and Sharon E. Carty; son John J. (Jane) Carty, Jr.; sisters Florence Cook and Barbara LeMaitre; brothers Bernard (Yvonne) Silva, Jr. and Joseph (Mary) Silva; grandchildren Sean D. (Gina) Jensen, Joseph R. Olivo, Georgeanna (William) Johnson, Cristina M. Olivo, Samantha E. Smith, Scott R. Loeser Jr. and Caitlin M. Loeser; great grandchildren Tyler J. Jensen, Jack H. Jensen and Haylie S. Johnson; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who she adored. She is preceded in death by her parents Bernard and Martha (Hamilton) Silva; a son William D. Carty; a brother Frances (Bonnie) Silva; brothers-in-law Robert Cook and Lucien LeMaitre and grandchild Jamie D. Carty. Agnes was an active member at Pax Christi and prayed the Rosary every day. In addition to being a loving wife of 58 years, she was a devoted mother of 4, grandmother of 8 and great grandmother of 3, she was very involved with The Prime Timers at Pax Christi, the Ladies of the Moose and an active member of the Knights of Columbus and a former President of The Knights of Columbus, Ladies Auxiliary and The American Legion Auxiliary. Governor Barry Branstad of Iowa, awarded Agnes with The Outstanding Individual Volunteer Award in 1995. Her favorite pastimes were baking for her family, her parish functions and her various clubs. She was an avid reader. She enjoyed traveling both domestically and internationally. Funeral Information There will not be a visitation. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Pax Christi Catholic Church followed by inurnment in the columbarium. There will be a celebration of her life, with a funeral meal served immediately after in the parish hall.
