Judith “Judy” Marie Louise Russell, a longtime resident of Everett, Washington, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on November 23, 2021 at the age of 60. Judy was born to Robert Barry Smith and Marie Louise Redding Smith in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Following the death of their parents, Judy and her sister, Marnell, were adopted by their aunt and uncle, Leona “Lee” Redding Finley and John W. Finley, MD of Seattle, Washington. Judy was raised in Seattle and attended Blanchet High School. Judy is survived by her brother Michael Finley, her step-daughters Melanie Marie Caron and Jennifer Marie Grassmann and an extended network of loving family and friends who cherish her memory. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Allen Wayne Russell, her four parents, her sisters Marnell Finley Olson and Anne Finley, and her brother John “Bill” Finley Jr. In her final years, she shared a union of love with Nickolas Sweeney. Truly, to know Judy was to love her! Her warmth, compassion and genuine heart brought comfort and enrichment to all she touched in life. Despite a decades-long struggle with multiple sclerosis, her infectious joy and positive attitude were an inspiration to all. She loved her work at Northwest Hospital from which she reluctantly retired. Her physical limitations did not hinder her from living a full and robust life. Although she never had children of her own, Judy had a nurturing, mother's heart; always offering a listening ear to the troubled and a helping hand to those in need. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family and all those whose lives she touched. Funeral services will be announced at a later date.
