All-States Cremation - Wheat Ridge
Marilyn King
January 4th, 1933 - January 8th, 2014
Min King, a fine art painter and teacher from Maine & Colorado, passed away on January 8th, 2014 at New Dawn Memory Care, in Aurora, Colorado. She turned 81 on January 4th. On Christmas Day 2013, she had hip surgery from which she did not recover. Min was a graduate of Sargent College at Boston University. Min was an artist. She was a teacher. And she was an athlete. She loved to paint horses, landscapes, and people. She lived in Colorado for 22 years with her cats. Her illustrations of President Bush and Kennebunkport, Maine were made into posters and postcards. Her work representing the Denver Broncos was published in the Denver Post. Her nieces and nephews are grateful to have Min’s paintings in their homes to forever memorialize their aunt. Min was the daughter of Lester Alonzo King and Jessie McRae King from Melrose, Massachusetts and Kennebunkport, Maine. She was the sister of the late John Teed King II of Boston, Massachusetts. She is survived by her brother, Robert Eliot King of Menlo Park, California and Kennebunkport, Maine, her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Jones King and Helen F. King, as well as 10 nieces and nephews and their children from California, Massachusetts, Oregon, and Rhode Island. During her final days, Bob and Dottie were at Min’s side holding her hand, representing the whole family. The family wishes to thank Min’s next door neighbor and dear friend, Cindy Petric and everyone at New Dawn who cared for Min until her last breath. Min’s ashes will be laid to rest next to her mother, father, grandmother and grandfather at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody, Mass. A celebration of Min’s life will take place the Summer of 2014 at Goose Rocks Beach, Kennebunkport, Maine where Min spent her summers as a child and where she used to care for hundreds of blueberry bushes on her family’s property. Her creative, passionate, feisty spirit will be missed by her family, friends and felines. For a photo gallery of images of Min, her family and her artwork go to: Celebrating the Life of Min King
