Hazel Marie Davis
January 31st, 1917 - October 21st, 2008
Hazel Marie Davis, 91, passed away in Olympia, Washington, Tuesday, October 21, 2008 near family. Hazel was born January 31, 1917 in Baring, Washington to Hester Jones-Timpe and William Timpe. Hazel had been a resident of Baring and of Skykomish for many years. She and her family did spend a short time on a stump ranch in Kent when she was a small child. She graduated from Skykomish High School and lived in nearby Grotto for a few years before moving to Seattle where she worked for Firestone. In 1952 she moved to Edmonds and was employed by Sears Roebuck and Co. Hazel finished her working years at the Edmonds branch of the National Bank of Commerce. Hazel loved Edmonds and after spending many years in her home near Yost Park she moved to a condo on Main St. near downtown Edmonds. In the early 1940s Hazel married Raymond Clark. In 1950 she married William Davis. Hazel loved animals, hiking, and being outdoors. In her late seventies she was still hiking annually to Lake Valhalla along the Crest trail east of Stevens pass summit and inspiring a group of much younger hikers. Hazel is survived by her niece Patricia (Henry) Gallagher-Carlson and husband Warren Carlson of Olympia and Pats children, Craig Gallagher and wife Trisha, Ryan Gallagher and wife Theresa, and Todd Gallagher; her nephew Robert Walters his wife Virginia of Portland, OR and Roberts children John and wife Tammy of Ellensburg, WA, Trina and husband Ron Long of Portland. Great grand nieces and nephews include Anna and Sara Walters of Ellensburg, and Gregory, Douglas and Julie Long of Portland. Preceding Hazel in death were her parents; brothers, Harold Jones, Norman Jones and sisters, Gladys Jones-Walters, Florence Timpe-Henry; and close cousins, Viola Timpe-Maley, George Timpe and Wilson Timpe.A Graveside service will be held in Monroe on Saturday, November 1, at 11:30 at the IOOF Cemetery. Arrangements are being made through Becks Funeral Home in Edmonds, 425-771-1234. The family requests in lieu of flowers please make donations to Veterans of Foreign Wars or any animal rescue organization of your choice.
