After a two year courageous battle with cancer, Michaelene passed away peacefully at Northwest Hospital surrounded by her family and friends on May 7, 2009. She was born in Tacoma on Nov. 6, 1956 to Robert and Bettie Smith. Mike graduated from Stadium High School in 1975. She married Don Grimberg in 1976 and remained a devoted wife and mother for 32 years. Mike leaves three wonde children, Allison, Bryan and Jeff in Dons hands. Mike loved to cook and host major family gatherings, which is the bond that keeps our families together. She loved to travel, exploring different foods and cultures and she brought home many of our favorite recipes. It gave her great joy to be the sor mom, carpool driver and cheerleader for the away trips she made to see the kids play sor. She is survived by her mother Bettie; two brothers, Robert and Mark Smith; two sisters, Nancy Smith and Christine Mertens; her sister-in-law Mary Lee-Fong; and a niece and five nephews. The Grimberg family would like to thank Dr. Dabhi and the staff at Pacific Medical Infusion Center for their compassionate care during the tough times. They kept things calm and cool when the chemo took its toll.In lieu of flowers, Mike would appreciate a donation to Breast Cancer Research in her name. Funeral Mass will be said at 11 AM on Thursday, May 14, at St. Luke Catholic Church, 322 North 175th St Shoreline, WA 98133.Please share your memories of Mike with us at [email protected].
