Frederick Thompson

Frederick Thompson was born July 14, 1918 to Ralph and Sarah Burkin Thompson, in Seattle. He passed away Dec. 29, 2010 in Shoreline, following a stroke. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1936 (he was valedictorian in a class of 600) and from the University of Washington in 1940 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He spent his entire career as an applications engineer for the General Electric Company.He married Betty Jean Rice in 1954, and they built two homes on land he had purchased in South Snohomish County in 1950. Fred is survived by his wife Betty; three children: Mike (Kim), Jennifer Prekeges (Peter), and Rob (Lisa); and four grandchildren: Michael Thompson Jr., Krysta Prekeges Pinkston, Brady Thompson, and Natalie Thompson. They were long-time members of Edmonds Christian Church.Fred was an avid Huskies fan his entire life. He attended his kids school and sporting events and always bought ice cream for the teams, win or lose. The family had beach cabins at Hood Canal and Lake Cavanaugh, and Fred enjoyed the work they required as well as the good family memories.Fred never lost his sense of humor, even to the very end, and he would want you to remember him with joy.
