Dr. James "Jim" Edward Butler
February 3rd, 1931 - April 25th, 2015
Lexington, Kentucky Dr. James "Jim" Edward Butler peacefully passed on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at his home in Lexington, Kentucky. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Fulks Butler and his children, Holly Butler Long, Leland, North Carolina, Rebecca Butler Martin and husband Frank, Naples, Florida, James Edward Butler, Jr., Dublin, Ohio, Thomas Matthew Butler and wife Debbie, Murrieta, California, Sara Evridge, Lexington, Kentucky and granddaughter Cori Rae Butler, whom he raised. Dr. Butler is also survived by his brother, David Lee Butler and wife Janet, Lubbock, Texas. He was predeceased by a daughter, Suzanne Butler, Lexington, Kentucky and his brother, CT Butler. Dr. Butler practiced family medicine in Lexington for 41 years and was on the staff at Central Baptist Hospital. He was employed at Proscan Imaging, Nicholasville Road, for the past 10 years. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Dr. Butler will be fondly remembered for his devoted service to his family, patients and Church. He loved his dogs, golf, yard and the Kentucky Wildcats. Dr. Butler was the proud grandfather of Rachel Offutt Rose and husband Billy, Leland, North Carolina, John Woods Davis, II and wife Whitney, Chandler, Arizona, Daniel Butler, Queens, New York, Jennifer Butler Young, and husband Cody, Pleasant Grove, Utah, Mark Butler, Columbus, Ohio, Justin Butler, Murrieta, California, Cody Evridge and McKenzie Evridge, Lexington, Kentucky, Brandon Staggs, and wife Katie, Independence, Kentucky, Tiffany McMichael and husband Steve, Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Jonathan Briggs and wife Alicia, Menifee, California and Jacqueline Brigg, Murrieta, California. His great grandchildren are Lorrin Offutt Cook and husband Marshall, Enterprise, Alabama, Kyle Offutt, Leland, North Carolina, Blair and Anna Davis, Chandler, Arizona, Abilene Young, Pleasant Grove, Utah, Addison and Aubree McMichael, Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Lydia Staggs, Independence, Kentucky, Aiden, Jaxon and Lyla Briggs, Menifee, California, and Mia Izzi, Murrieta, California. He had one great, great granddaughter, Lexie Cook of Enterprise, Alabama. Funeral Information A Memorial Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Tates Creek Road on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 2:00pm.
