John was born in March of 1917 in Montclair, New Jersey, coming to Seattle in 1920. He passed away August 19, 2011 at the age of 94. Mary, Johns first wife, passed away in June, 2001. John then married Edna Hanson on January 27, 2007. He was drafted into the Army, March of 1941; after training at Fort Lewis, he went to Fort Knox, Kentucky to train for the 752nd Tank Battalion for WWII. He trained in England for the Invasion of Africa Campaign, then on to Tunisia and eventually fighting in Italy, and to Brenner Pass. He received the Bronze Star for Meritorious Service under fire and his unit received the presidential citation for 315 days under fire. After the Army John returned to the US Post Office, where he retired after 31 years in Federal Service, with his last position as Asst. Budget Officer over a five state area. Johns retirement from the Post Office was in 1972 when he began a sussful career in the real estate business associated with Ballard Realty until his death. John is a former director of the King County Board of Realtors. John is also a life member of the American Legion; A Past Commander, as well as a life member of the VFW; life associate member of the Swedish Cultural Center; Life member of Ballard Elks and a former Trustee; member of the Finance Committee at his parish, Holy Rosary in Edmonds; member of the Sno-King Serra club; and Past President of the Community Club. John loved golf and talking about his playing days and more recently watching intently on TV. John was always involved in many things being very active in his church and his community. Scores of people in the Seattle metro area and Edmonds knew John and will miss him dearly. Announcement: Memorials may be made to Hope Heart Institute.
