July 23rd, 1934 - August 27th, 2012
Jerry passed away peacefully at the Hospice Center in Kirkland, WA on August 27, 2012 after suffering strokes. He was born July 23, 1934 in Bellingham, WA to Ingolf and Bernice Nilsen.He was a graduate of Bellingham High School in 1950, graduated from Western Washington with a degree in Education, and received his Masters degree at the University of Wyoming at Laramie. He felt great pride and accomplishment in his 17 years as a high school principal at the Alternative High School in Bothell, WA before retiring in 1989.Jerry enjoyed golfing, tennis, gardening, volunteering many hours at the Nordic Heritage Museum in Ballard, participating in musicals, enjoying time at his homes in Arizona and Birch Bay. What he loved the most was spending time with his family.He is predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Carol LaCasse. Jerry is survived by his wife, Jan; his daughters, Lori Nelson, Sheryl Pauk, and Lynn Sargent; and his grandchildren Breah, Willie, and Ryan Sargent, and Kyle Doherty.
