Evelyn Malmberg Larsen

Larsen, Evelyn A., 95, longtime resident of Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully October 15, 2018, in Aurora, Colorado. Evelyn Anna Malmberg was born February 18, 1923, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to William and Edith (Okerlund) Malmberg. As a teenager during the Depression Era, Ev worked as a private chef, honing culinary and hostess skills that would become her signature. She later worked in the banking industry. On January 14, 1943 Ev married Marshall Dale Larsen in Minneapolis. They moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1956 when Dale assumed the General Manager position at KTVH Channel 12. Ev was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi and many other charitable and community organizations. Following Dale’s retirement in 1982, they were able to spend more time relaxing and entertaining at home in Wichita and at their lake home in Bella Vista, Arkansas. They took frequent road trips, visiting family and friends, and exploring every interesting side trip they came across along the way. Many historical museums and sites, out-of-the-way golf courses, and local attractions were enjoyed, and “antiquing” was a favorite pastime. Devoted to her family and friends, Ev was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. And to everyone who knew her, she was always, a lady. Ev was preceded in death by her parents Edith and Bill, husband of 71 years M. Dale, sister Betty Jean Wangen, and brothers Donald and Vincent Malmberg. She is survived by daughters Lynne Larsen of Prairie Village, KS, Judy Larsen of Mill Creek, WA, Kathy Larsen Bruner (Candace Hansen) of Aurora, CO, grandson Marshall (Viktoria) Bruner, granddaughter Meredith (John) Whitehead, great- grandsons Jack and Sam Whitehead, sisters Patricia (Dave) Carlson, Eileen (Roger) Johnson, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her ashes will be placed with Dale at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. Condolences may be made at www.allstatescremation.com.
