Frankfort, KY Betty L. Hurt, 74, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2016. Born in Hazard, KY on December 31, 1941 to the late Homer Chapman and Edna Baker Chapman. She retired after working 34 years as an Executive Secretary with Legal Counsel at the Department of Transportation. Betty was a member of Capital City Christian, she loved spending time with her family, and was a fantastic cook. She is survived by her daughter Karla Hurt Brown (Tim), Frankfort; sons David Hurt (Rochelle), Frankfort; Mark Hurt (Jennifer), Charleston, WV; sister Ruby Shockey (Rodney), Eaton, OH; brother Truby Chapman (Linda), Hazard; grandchildren Bethany Singleton (Jon); Eric Brown; Sarah Neal (Jack); Michael Hurt; Elizabeth Shaf; Nicholas Shaf; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Betty was preceded in death by her sister Sue Stacy and brother, Donald Chapman. Funeral Information Funeral services will be held 11:00am Monday, August 22, 2016 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Road. Rev. Sherman Warfield and Rev. Jon Sutphin will officiate. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Serving as casketbearers will be Michael Hurt, Eric Brown, Jon Singleton, Jack Neal, Pat Shockey, Greg Stacy, Gary Wayne Chapman, and H.B. Chapman. Nicholas Shaf and Elizabeth Shaf will serve as honorary casketbearers. Visitation will be Sunday, August 21, 2016 from 2:00pm until 5:00pm at Capital City Christian Church.
