Donald Frank Paris
March 23rd, 1923 - May 24th, 2013
Donald F. PARIS, born on 3-23-23 in Seattle, WA, passed away peacefully into the presence of the Lord on May 24, 2013, in Edmonds, WA. He leaves behind his loving wife, Lois, to whom he was married for 65 years, 3 loving children: Pam Paris, Don Paris Jr., and Jim Paris (wife, Marcia), along with 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Don began working early in life, leaving high school to help support his family by making donuts in his grandfathers donut shop. He went into the Army Air Force and served in Hawaii. He married Lois in 1947, and they had 3 children. He was never able to attend college, but felt that the School of Hard Knocks gave him the best education and preparation for his lifes work. He worked hard all his life to support his family, often taking on more than one job at a time. He was a top salesman in the real estate business for 40 years, eventually opening Don Paris Realty in Edmonds. He was a member of the Elks Club for over 60 years, and was a charter member of the Lynnwood Elks. He sang with the Sound Singers of Edmonds, volunteered at the Edmonds Senior Center Food Bank, and joined the Edmonds branch of the VFW. Don was a well-respected man in the community of Edmonds for the past 57 years. He was always willing to help those in need, either fixing, building, remodeling, or cleaning up. Don was a man who served his Lord through his walk more than his talk. The Lord blessed him with many talents, including arts, crafts, woodworking, painting ceramics, etc. He loved to build things and to work with his hands. He also loved to play games and was quite competitive. He enjoyed entertaining others by hosting many gatherings, playing games, and planning fishing and camping trips. One of his favorite places to gather friends and family together was at his cabin on the Skykomish River near Baring. Many happy memories were built there. He left a legacy of being a very giving man who loved his family and friends, and lived life to the fullest.Don was a man with a huge heart, and will be missed, but never forgotten.A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at the Edmonds United Methodist Church in Edmonds, 828 Caspers Street, Edmonds, on Saturday, June 22nd, 2013, at 2:00 p.m.In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lynnwood Elks Club or the Edmonds Senior Center would be greatly appreciated.
