Janet Ellen Zagurski
June 7th, 1948 - July 15th, 2013
Janet was born June 7th, 1948 in Fairbanks, Alaska to Robert and Margaret Porter. Due to her father being in the Air Force, she lived in various places with her sisters - Diane and Sharon - including Morocco.Jan attended Cascade High School in Everett where she was known for being a talented singer.Post graduation, she decided to pursue nursing at Spokanes Sacred Heart Nursing School. It was during this time that she met the love of her life at an Air Force base dance - Fred Zagurski. Nine months after they married, Janet gave birth to a daughter, Tamara, at the same hospital where she, herself, had been born. Three and a half years later, she then gave birth to a son, Craig, in Seattle. After working for the Edmonds School District as a teachers assistant for many years, she then decided to go back to her original goal of being a nurse. She graduated from the nursing program at Shoreline Community College and then was hired by the Northwest Hospital Family Clinic. For twelve years, she fulfilled her dream of being a registered nurse, while nurturing and putting smiles on the faces of many patients.Throughout her years, Janet pursued many hobbies which showed her natural creative talent. She loved to collect seashells and agates from the beach, gardening, sewing, rubber stamping, making cards, and decorating the house. Her skill at crafts led to many great gifts for people throughout the years. Two other loves of hers were cats and chocolate. She was an extremely devoted cat-mom and liked to collect various cat-themed objects. As for chocolate, she believed that should be its own food group!Without a doubt, though, Janets greatest love of all was her husband of almost 45 years. Even after her passing, their love will be known for generations to come.Janet died on July 15, 2013 from Alzheimers Disease with Fred at her side, who cared for her at their home. She is survived by her husband Fred of 45 years, daughter Tamara, son Craig, grandchildren Cedar and Violet, and sisters Sharon and Diane.A Celebration of Life gathering was held at Becks Funeral Home on July 20th.
