Mary Sue Susie Thompson passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton WA. Susie was born in Ione WA to Reginald and Julia (Sharon) Redding on June 29, 1936. She grew up in the Lake City area and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954. She married Donald K. Leland on January 25, 1955. They had two daughters, Debra Passi and Pamela Kennedy.Sue was a career woman and began working at Londos Auto Glass on Roosevelt Way in 1963. She later met John W. Thompson who owned an auto body shop nearby and remarried on October 1, 1972. John preceded her in death. Susie went onto work at Fidelity Finance at Northgate and was later promoted to the position of Loan Officer and remained there through merges and retired when the company was known as City Corp.Susie had a dream to go to Hawaii. During the years that she was raising her daughters, Sue Lulamanu Leland earned a diploma in Ancient and Modern Hula Dance and Instructor certification. She performed throughout the Seattle area and weekly at a downtown hospital for patients. She taught young girls the dance of hula. Susie is survived by a loving partner, Jim Kolhoff. She spent her retirement years with Jim traveling the country with Washington North Cascade Airstream Club, Unit 138. Susie had always had a love of camping and the outdoors. She is also survived by her two daughters, Debra Passi of Everett WA and Pamela Kennedy Warsaw IN, a sister Gerry Boursse, Edmonds WA, and brother, Pat Redding, Soap Lake WA. She was blessed with 5 grandchildren: Donald Kennedy, Chicago IL, James Kennedy, Missoula MT, Tiffany (Passi) Dustin, Oakland, CA, Julie (Kennedy) Anderson, Mentone IN, and Jeremy Passi, Germany; and five great grandchildren.A Viewing will be held on Monday, August 5 from 11am 1pm, with a Funeral service to begin at 1pm at Becks Funeral Home, 405 5 Ave S, Edmonds WA. Family graveside will be held at Valley View Memorial Park in Soap Lake WA at a later date. Memorials may be made to Halau Hula O Napualani Hawaiian School of Dance to the Sue Lulamanu Leland Scholarship Fund to continue the love of the Hawaiian spirit through children learning the love of Hawaiian dance.
