Melda Lou Felix
July 16th, 1925 - September 30th, 2013
Melda Lou Felix 1925-2013 Richard Jackson Felix 1923-2010 Our parents were both born and raised in Johnstown Pennsylvania. Richard was born to Lena and Jackson Felix. Melda was raised by her father, Mabon McFeaters. They met in a roller skating rink just before WWII. Dad enlisted in the Army, and served in both the African and Italian campaigns. Dad received a Purple Heart during the battle of Casino in 1944 (need to double check year). After his period of convalescence, Mom and Dad were married in 1945 and finished out his service as honeymooners in Fort Knox, Kentucky. In their desire to start a new life, they moved to Crown Point, Indiana where they began a family. David Richard in 1950, Jeffery Louis in 1954 and Tracy Kay in 1961. During their marriage, they relocated twice more: to the Rio Grande Valley of Texas upon retirement, then again 15 years later to be with their daughter just north of Seattle in Edmonds, Washington. They were married for 65 years until Dad passed away August 3, 2010. Mom followed him three years later September 30 of 2013. Their story of commitment, love, living wisely and well are an inspiration to all of us children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They are survived by David, his wife Joellen from Indianapolis Indiana, and two children Rebecca and Nathan. Nathan and his wife Audrey live in Louisville Kentucky and are the parents of Owen and Henry. Rebecca and her husband Brent reside in Denver Colorado and are the parents of Eva and Luke. Jeff and his wife Carol, with their son Justin, live in Orlando Florida. Tracy is mother to Bryn Fraker, a senior at California College of Art in Oakland California and Mason Fraker who attends Western Washington University. Although our family is spread across the country, we are there for each other when we are needed. We share the gift of happy childhood memories of camping trips, fishing, traveling the country and many good meals around the family . Our parents taught us through example how to work hard, to be committed to family, to raise our own children in loving homes, and most importantly to enjoy the journey. We both mourn the loss and celebrate the lives of these two remarkable people, Dick and Melda Felix. It is our comfort to know you are reunited and together again in heaven.
