Cheryl Diane Maddox
May 1st, 1956 - October 3rd, 2013
Cheryl was born May 1, 1956, to the late Wesley and Thelma (Renas) Maddox. She was raised in Seattle and on Whidbey Island. She graduated from Langley High School and earned an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education at Everett Community College.Cheryl was passionate about children and loved working in child daycare. She last worked in Port Orchard, WA until disability forced an early retirement. She moved to Edmonds, WA where she did volunteer work for Clothes for Kids and attended Edmonds Church of God. Midnight, her constant feline companion, was a great comfort to Cheryl.Although disabled, she fought to continue her independence. She could be seen walking to the store with her walker and frequently taking the bus. Despite being diagnosed with Turner Syndrome last year, she continued her independence until her death.Cheryl is survived by brothers Chuck (Vikki) of Freeland, WA, Mark (Stan) of West Seattle; niece Gwen (Brandon) Swanstrom of Grangeville, ID; grandnephew Jeramiah and grandniece Bianca also of Grangeville, ID; stepmother Lee Maddox of Pullman, WA; stepsister Leslie Park of Moscow, ID and stepbrother Doug Park of Palouse, WA.Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 12, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Edmonds Church of God located at 8224 220th St SW, Edmonds, WA 98026. Following the service, burial will be at Langley Cemetery on Whidbey Island. Cheryl will be laid to rest with her mother Thelma, grandmother Helen Renas, and grandparents Ruth and Wesley P. Maddox.
