On December 10, 2013 our beloved Don left his pain and this world and went to be in peace with God. He was born in Hannibal, Mo. on December 3, 1944 to Ella Louise and Donald L. Eager. He grew up in various US cities as the Navy transferred his step father, C.W. Fair, from coast to coast. While in the Coast Guard, Don was sent to Seattle and met his life long friends, James Woods and Dick Ostrom. Don worked for several years at Seafirst Bank and retired from Wights Nursery in Lynnwood. After retirement, he discovered his passion for volunteering, especially for the Red Cross. Don participated on several deployments and was actively involved in the Snohomish County chapter until his death. Don was deeply loved and leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Marlene, his daughter, Tracey Svendsen, his son in law Jason Svendsen, his grandchildren Justin and Sonia, his mother, Louise Fair, sisters and brothers, Ellene Pratt (AL), Richard (Edmonds), James (NV) and Bonnie Street (TX) and sister in law Sherry Mabie (Seattle), his extended family, the families he embraced through marriage and the friendships he made during his life. He will especially be missed by his best friend and fellow traveler James Woods, his wife Susan and their daughters Jaime and Jenn. Dons family was always his priority. He cared deeply about God and his community and devoted time not only to the Red Cross but also the Edmonds Police Foundation. He was a caring, gentle, loyal, compassionate and competitive man. While we will miss his presence and beautiful smile, he left a legacy to be proud of. Announcement: Memorials may be made to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, The American Red Cross of Snohomish County, Edmonds Police Foundation or PAWS (where he was chosen by his loyal dog, Jake).
