Lege Jr.

Beloved father, distinguished musician, talented artist, animal lover, story writer, competitive weight lifter, life long Bronco fan and friend to many, Peter Anthony Lege Jr. departed this life peacefully with his family at his side, on Thursday January 30, 2014. Peter was born on Thursday, January 24th , 1929 in Breckenridge Colorado to Peter A. Lege Sr and Ernesta Nigro Lege as a first generation Italian American. He attended primary school in Breckenridge and High school at Regis University in Denver. Peter graduated from University of Denver with his Bachelors Degree in Radio-Communication and Music. Peter married Carolyn Van Dusen in 1954 and had four children. He worked for Jefferson County Department of Social Services and retired after 30 years in 1996. A quiet man of music, Peter never gave up his love for this art as he continued to compose numerous pieces as well as play the piano in various venues around the Denver metro area. His works of melody are many but most noted are the compositions released in his CD, “Lucky” in 2007. Peter’s son’s Chris, Steve and P. Kevin continued his music practice by performing and composing in the Denver Metro and San Francisco Bay Area. Preceded in death are Peter’s sisters, Annie, Jennie, Mary, Mennie, Angelina, and Grace. Peter is survived by his children Chris Lege, Cynthia Masters (Lege), Steve Lege and P. Kevin Lege, Kevin’s wife Sharon, and two grandchildren; Ryan Dale Lege and Antonio Isabel-Santino Johnson. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In profound joy and laughter, Peter will be remembered by his children and grandchildren who will carry on his legacy and honor him fully by continuing to live life with humility, grace and gratitude.
