Pauline Christine Runnels
October 17th, 1921 - November 11th, 2014
Pauline Christine Bischofberger Zaat Runnels Pauline Polly was the first child of WWI veteran, Carl W. Bischofberger, and German immigrant, Ktchen Sedlaczek. She was born in 1921 at her parents farmhouse in Monroe, Washington. Polly passed away surrounded by her family on November 11, 2014 after celebrating 93 years of a vibrant, accomplished life. She met the father of her 9 children, Frederick L. Runnels, while attending Seattle University. They were married in 1943 and proceeded to raise a large family. She worked alongside her husband in their family-owned skin care company, Kardee, where she was top saleswoman and business manager. At Kardee, her intelligence and business savvy shined and she discovered she possessed a natural sales ability. This later motivated her to begin a remarkably sussful career in real estate, which she retired from at the young age of 70. As dedicated as Polly was to her career, her true passion was found in her love for her children. No mountain was too high, nor valley too low, to ensure their wellbeing. She was preceded in death by four of her children: Sue Ann Runnels, John Fredrick Runnels, Timothy Peter Runnels, and Janet Runnels. Her surviving children are David C. Runnels, George F. Runnels, Eileen P. Kechloian, Christine L. Goodwin, and Paul J. Runnels. Polly was also a proud grandmother to Heather, Joye, Sean, Annie, Alex, Tyler, Angela, Josh, Crystal, Chandra, and Shatki; and a great-grandmother to Shea, Angie, Ryan, Christopher, Hannah, Colin, Arwen, Joey, and Baby Henderson. Her great-grandson, Joseph, preceded her in death. She even had the pleasure of meeting three great, great grandchildren, Jordan, Austin, and Hayley. She achieved her greatest desire to have plenty of children in her life to love. Her brother, Charles Bischofberger, also preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Geraldine Fant. Polly was a woman of excnal strength and dazzling charisma. She was never afraid of the road less-traveled and walked it in style. Her smile and laughter lit up a room and she was never more at home as when she was hosting family and friends. Anyone who was ever her guest will eagerly tell you her cooking was worth writing home about. She was a world-traveler, animal lover, and active philanthropist. She gave generously and loved with her whole heart. It can be said, without the slightest hesitation, that Polly lived the fullest of lives and left an indelible mark on this earth.
