Our mother, Lillian Anna (Weber) Dahlen was born January 18, 1929 and passed away, peacefully in her sleep November 3, 2014. She is survived by her sister, Rita Elliott and her four children: Ruth Jorgensen, Buzz Dahlen, Christopher Dahlen, and Christine Beck; and her closest friend, Julie Ballard; who we all called Auntie Julie. Mom had ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and a host of grand-pets. Mom was born and raised in Campbell, Minnesota, a farming community, where she grew up with a strong work ethic, an understanding of commitment, a loyalty to friends, a love for family and a deep Catholic devotion. On June 29, 1950 mom married Dad, Harold B. Dahlen from Fergus Falls, Minnesota who preceded her in death.Lillian, Lil or Annie, depending on who you are talking to, spent most of her working career in the medical field as a medical assistant. She worked in a number of clinics over the years. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting and quilting. All of her kids were recipients, from time to time, of scarfs, hats, slippers, pot holders and even blankets. As a retiree she was devoted to her family, taking care of her grandchildren, doing our laundry (she was an expert at laundry, knew all the tricks) and helping make our busy lives easier. A life-long Catholic, Mom was a member of St. Anthonys Parish in Renton but also was an active parishioner at St. Olafs Parish when she lived in Poulsbo, WA.As we look back on the life our mother led we marvel at how strong she was, while raising us primarily on her own and in a house where God was a constant provider of guidance and love. This past year had been a tough one for mom with so many physical ailments, so although we do miss her, we are happy she is no longer stuck in her failing body; a body that she used so well over the years to love and take care of us.We want to thank the staff at GenCare Renton at the Lodge and Cristwood Skilled Nursing Center for taking care of our mom and providing her with such good comfort, care and compassion, as well as all of the physicians and nurses that helped manage her health over these past few years. Please join us in celebrating our moms life with a funeral mass in her honor at St. Luke Parish; Shoreline, WA. on January 30 at 11:00am. Please plan to join us following the mass for a lunch.Thank you for visiting this website. We encourage you to leave you thoughts and remembrances of our mom, Lillian Anna Dahlen.
