Janice Louise Doolittle
September 6th, 1930 - May 30th, 2016
Surrounded by her family, Jan passed away in Edmonds on May 30 at the age of 85. She was born September 6, 1930, lang=DEmDEin Aurora, ILto Meade and Louise Turley. She grew up with three brothers and a younger sister. Jan graduated from Joliet Township High School and went on to attend Illinois State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education. She began her teaching career in Illinois, where she taught for two years before moving to California. She met and married a young Navy lang=FRmFRLieutenant, TL (Lee) Doolittle. Jan and Lee started their married life in Apple Valley, California, but soon moved to Costa Mesa where their daughter Semie was born. They lived various places throughout California prior to moving to Edmonds, WA in 1970 where (with the excn of six years in Kenmore) they have lived ever since.Jan a long time member of Inglewood Golf Club, was an avid golfer who enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking, and keeping up with the latest sporting event. She put her sewing skills to good use by making hats and other items for Clothes for Kids in Lynnwood. She was always active and kept herself fit throughout her life including walking the Edmonds lang=NLmNLwaterfront in later years. She liked spending time with her family especially her granddaughter or little buddy Malissa and going on family vacations to Florida, Arizona, Hawaii, and around the Pacific NorthwestShe is survived by Lee her husband of 59 years, daughter Semie, son-in-law Larry Wilson and granddaughter Malissa.The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Edmonds Swedish Hospital ER and ICU for the kind and compassionate care Jan received.Memorial gifts may be given to Clothes for Kids, 16725 52nd Ave W, Suite B, Lynnwood, WA 98037 class=Hyperlink0href=http://www.clothesforkids.orghttp://www.clothesforkids.org, or YWCA Pathways for Women, 6027 208th St. SW Lynnwood, WA 98036.Services will be private at her request.
