Jym Wurdella (Jeannette Yvonne Marie Plante Wurdella) passed away Monday June 14, 2016 at the Cottages Residential Center, Boise, Idaho. She was 90 years old.Jym was born on February 26, 1926 at her grandparents home in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Her family moved to Lethbridge, then to Calgary as her parents secured work during the depression. During this period as a child she sang on radio. As a teenager she moved to Nelson, British Columbia. She developed a passion for ice skating that lasted throughout her adult life and actively ice skated until she was in her late 50s. It was during this time that she began to be known by the nickname of Jym (her initials).Jym moved to the United States during WW2, settling in Spokane, Washington. Her excellent writing skills landed her a job at the Spokane Chronicle newspaper at 19. Shortly thereafter Jym was quickly hired by the Lewiston, Tribune and moved to Lewiston to be one of the first female reporters during WW2 for the Lewiston Tribune. Jym found her life-long love of banking when she was hired at First Security Bank in Lewiston, Idaho in 1960. She moved to Boise in 1967 continuing her employment at First Security, which today is Wells Fargo. During her thirty plus years in banking career, she started as a teller and advanced through many promotions eventually becoming among the first women to become an officer with the bank, writing computer programs for the international loan department.Jym is survived by her daughters Kelly Newell and husband Dennis, Noel McRae and husband Jack and Angela Wurdella-Dake and her husband Rory Dake. Her grandchildren, Jamie Stayle , Kjell Houston, Saul Breithaupt, and Noel Angelique Erickson, Kimberly Bannink, Larry Steeley, Sarah Hetzel, Marisa Dake and Anthony Dake.She is survived by 4 great grandchildren, Jake Bannink, Sarah Noel Bannink, Haley Hetzel and Brannon Craig. She survived by three great-great grandchildren Jasmine Craig, James Craig, and David Craig. Service to be held on June 30th, at 11:00 a.m. at Becks Funeral Home, at 405 5th Avenue South, Edmonds, WA; with Burial at Edmonds Memorial Cemetery, 820 15th St. SW, Edmonds.In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Boise Rescue Mission.
