Frances Joy Mills
January 31st, 1928 - January 25th, 2017
Frances Joy Mills passed away January 25 2017 after a brief illness. She was born in Michigan in 1928 and grew up there with her two sisters Bette and Jean. Fran moved to California at 19 where she worked at American Airlines and met her future husband, Bob. The two married in 1949 and had 4 children. They lived in Canoga Park where she was a homemaker, while Bob was an officer for the California Highway Patrol. In 1977, the family moved to Las Vegas and Fran went to work at local bakeries where she was able to share her smile and happy outlook with her customers and coworkers. Bob, the love of her life passed in 1991, and Fran retired soon after. She discovered a love for Bingo and made many friends there. In 2005 she moved to Washington, settling in Mill Creek to be near her kids and grandkids. She got involved in many activities at her senior residence, ushering at the church, performing in several plays, enjoying excursions around the Puget Sound, collecting Teddy Bears, cheering on the Seahawks, and of course, playing Bingo. In 2014 she moved to Quail Park in Lynwood where she lived until her passing. She continued to enjoy all the residence had to offer and was always happy to have her apartment shown off to potential new residents. Fran had the ability to make everyone feel special and loved and she gave the greatest hugs. She never met someone she didnt like and had a huge heart that made everyone she met feel better for having spent time with her. She leaves a legacy of her four children, Bob, Carol, Don and Nancy, 10 grandchildren and 11 (and counting) great grandchildren. She went by many names, Fran, Mom, Grammie, Aunt Fran, Gigi and Great-Grammie to name a few, and no matter what you called her, she will always remain in our hearts and be the source of a smile when you think of her. There was nothing more important to Fran than family. She showed her stubborn and unwavering love, caring and support of her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids until the very end, always more worried about their well-being than she was about her own. Fran loved unconditionally and whole heartedly. The family would like to share their sincere thanks and gratefulness to the nursing staff at Quail Park for their excnal care of our Mom, you are her Angel Girls. The whole staff at Quail Park has also been amazing in the time mom lived there and especially the last few months, their kindness and caring went above and beyond. We also want to thank Providence Hospice for their warmth and compassion for our mom and us in the last month of her life. A recn will be held at Quail Park at Lynnwood on February 18, 2017 from 12:30-1:30. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Providence Hospice of Snohomish County or the American Cancer Society.
