Reginald Arthur Allen
November 8th, 1924 - April 7th, 2016
Reginald Arthur Allen (91), beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, peacefully passed away in his home on April 7, 2016 in Lynnwood. He was known for his quick-wit, flirtatious smile and adventurous spirit. Born in London, England on November 8, 1924 to Arthur and Julia Allen, he was the oldest of three children. After serving in the Royal Air Force for four years during WWII, the British Government lent him to Canada for aerospace design and manufacturing. The move sparked his love of travel and adventure and decided to stay in Canada. He was then offered a position with Boeing in the United States and soon after traveled across the border where America became his home. Reg had a brilliant mind and was a cherished asset to multiple aerospace technology companies. He worked as a Research Engineer for Boeing, TRW, Inc. and Northrop. He was sharp as a tack and resourceful in nature. After co-designing the microchip and designing training ranges for the Air Force, it was time for Reg to retire from the business world. Traveling the world, summiting mountains and backpacking with the Sierra Club was always the natural path for Regs adventurous soul. For years, he led groups through the wilderness and treasured those experiences, narrating the treks to friends, family and grandchildren. He would spend his down time cross country skiing, gardening and writing. He had a love for art and taught painting classes to the community. He graciously left numerous paintings to friends and family to hold onto in remembrance. Reg was a legend in his own right. He lived an impressive life and had the stories, artifacts and photos to prove it. His blatant honesty, charisma and magnificent mind will be missed tremendously. A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. A celebration of life will be held on May 7, 2016 from 3:00-6:00 PM at his home in Lynnwood.
