Sally Ann Hoagland
January 22nd, 1956 - July 11th, 2017
In loving memory of Sally Hoagland, 61, who passed away unexpectedly on July 12, 2017. Sally was born and raised in Seattle; she graduated high school in 1974 and Eastern Washington University in 1978 with a degree in Social Work. Sally was a longtime and loyal employee of Gais/Franz bakeries, winning Employee of the Year in 2010 and 2011, which embarrassed her to no end. She formed many deep friendships with her co-workers and all the customers adored her, as did everyone who met Sally.Sallys passions were her friends, family; and Michael, the love of her life, who preceded her in death in 1995. She doted on her nieces, nephew, grandnieces, grandnephew and the children of her many friends, always an active and fun participant in their lives. Whenever she could, she attended their games, recitals and school functions and was their #1 fan. Sally was also an avid fan of all the Seattle pro sports teams, the EWU Eagles, the Washington State Cougars and the SPU Falcons. She loved basketball and was very upset when her beloved Sonics left town. Sally was a true music lover, especially 70s rock and roll. She was also very passionate about photography and always had her camera with her so she could take pictures of those she loved. There are no words to describe what a generous and kind person Sally was. But if you were fortunate enough to be in her life, you know that a more selfless, gentle soul does not exist. She had the amazing gift of being genuinely interested in every person she talked with and making them feel special and cared about. Her joyful presence touched everyone she encountered and she will be deeply missed. Her generosity is legendary among the many people in Sallys life. If you received a gift wrapped in the Sunday comics you knew you were in for a real treat, and you had better check all the pockets! Sally spent hours shopping for the perfect, unique gift for all her loved ones. She would not rest until she had found the gift that perfectly matched each persons tastes, style, and personality. And gift (singular) always turned into piles of gifts as she could not stop at just one. Bringing happiness to others was her main mission in life and she sueded.Sally is preceded in death by her mother Nancy and her father Floyd, her sister Ann and her partner Michael Nisick. She is survived by her siblings, Catherine Hoagland, Nancy Hughes (Randy), Mary Hoagland (Alex Kutsick) and Tom Hoagland; her nieces Heather Hansen (Dan), Jessica Harrison (Cole), Molly Kutsick, Alexa Hughes and nephew Lucas Kutsick. There will be a Celebration of Sallys life on Sunday, August 27th, 1 pm in the Rosewood Room, Country Village, 720 238th St SE, Bothell, WA 98021.
