David Marion Sutton
December 27th, 1925 - June 6th, 2017
David Marion Sutton passed away peacefully on June 6, 2017 in Everett, Washington following a brief hospitalization. He was born in Eugene, Oregon on December 27, 1925 to Marion and Elsie Sutton. He grew up and lived in Eugene for his entire childhood. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lynda. He is survived by his wife, June; his children, Karen, Ken, Dan, Dale and their families, including 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.David received his ministers license from Eugene Bible College in 1943. He and his future wife, June Rexius both grew up as members of Lighthouse Temple in Eugene, Oregon, where they would later marry on September 1st, 1948. The next year, Dave and June moved to Chiloquin, Oregon when Dave pted his first pastorate at Chiloquin Open Bible on the Klamath Reservation; he served in Chiloquin for five years. His next pastorate was for eight years in Hardin, Montana at Hardin Open Bible on the Crow Reservation. In 1962, the Suttons moved to Pella, Iowa where Dave served as the pastor at First Church of the Open Bible for eight years. Dave pted his last pastorate in 1970 at Edmonds Open Bible. He served at Edmonds Open Bible until he retired from that ministry in 1979.From the late 70s to the late 90s, Dave served as the Chaplain for Edmonds Police and Fire, serving all of south Snohomish County. In 1980, Dave earned his real estate license, beginning another important phase of his professional career. Sutton Real Estate opened its doors in 1990, until the family closed the business in 2008 and Dave and June finally retired.Dave loved Christ, and this love flowed through every aspect of his life. He was an integral and visible part of his familys lives: children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He found joy in capturing these moments through photography and was often seen with camera in hand and his next joke ready to tell. He enjoyed telling and retelling jokes, finding joy through others? laughter. Dave was the original MacGyver for those of you who may not know what that means, Dave tried to fix anything that was broken. Spare parts were neatly organized in his garage, and duct tape was a popular staple. The other love in his life was golf; he enjoyed the competitive aspect of the sport and played into his 80s. Please join us as we celebrate his life on Friday, June 16th at 1:30 p.m. at New Life Church in Everett, Washington. The church is located at 6830 Highland Drive, Everett, Washington 98203.
