R. William Bill Lovern
July 4th, 1929 - November 13th, 2015
R. William Lovern, Bill (Roland)Born July 4, 1929 in North Powder, Oregon to his parents William and Viola Lovern. The family moved to Sunnyside Washington where Bill attended Lincoln School and Sunnyside High School, Class of 1947. Bill had four older sisters, Maude, Louella, Lucille, Ruth, and two younger brothers, Robert (Bob) Lovern and Jack Lovern.In 1946, at the age of 17, Bill and his best friend Ray Cain, enlisted in the Marine Corps. He was stationed at the U.S. Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro, in Santa Ana, California. He received an honorable discharge, Rank of Sergeant in 1949. Bill returned to Washington where he attended college at the University of Washington. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration in 1955.While going to school, he worked at the Boeing Company, where he met his wife, Jan Gerety. They were married in 1952. During this time, they had three of their children. After graduating, Bill was employed by Peat, Marwick Mitchell in Seattle and Portland; two more children were born at this time. In 1959, Bill had an opportunity to work for an accounting firm in Alaska. The family moved to Anchorage, AK with five children in tow.Bill received his CPA license in 1961 and later opened his own practice, R. William Lovern Co. The two youngest were born by then, making a family of seven children. Bill thoroughly enjoyed living and working in Alaska. He got his pilotBatangs license and was flying, hunting and fishing, boating and camping; all of the family went on many of these adventures.Bill and Jan continued to live in Anchorage until 2005. They moved to Marysville, WA, to be closer to their daughter Meg (who was ill) and her family. They lived there until Bill became ill and began staying at the Marysville Care Center in 2013. In October he was admitted to Providence Hospital in Everett, WA.Bill was comforted by his family, near and far, during this time. He died on November 13, 2015 from complications of pneumonia. He will live forever in our hearts.Bill is predeceased by his parents, sisters and his brother Robert (Bob) Lovern and his daughter Meg Ames. He is survived by his brother Dr. Jack Lovern (Connie), Yakima WA. He is also survived by his wife Jan Lovern, Marysville WA; his children: Jeff Lovern (Nick Chicka), Seattle WA, Beth Lovern, Mt Horeb WI, Katie Lovern (Steve Dennis), Woodinville WA, Matt Lovern, Eagle River AK, Amy Lovern, Benicia CA, and Nate Lovern (Heather Lassner), Johnstown CO; his grandchildren: Meredith, Martha, Ben, Colleen, Heidi, Ashley, Maerron; and his great-grandchild Edie.There will be a Memorial at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent WA, Monday, May 23, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. href=http://www.cem.va.gov/cems/nchp/tahoma.asp#bspace http://www.cem.va.gov/cems/nchp/tahoma.asp#bspace.Please share memories with the family at www.becksfuneralhome.com.
