Linda Ritchie Smart Johnson, 70, of Nicholasville passed away at her home due to complications from pancreatic cancer on April 11, 2018. Linda was a loving mother to Laura Christine Smart (Edward) Twaddell, step-mother to Gari Lynn (John) Davenport, and grandmother to Scott Brown, Cody Bronaugh, Maggie Twaddell, and Elizabeth Twaddell. In addition to her daughters and grandchildren, she is survived by her brothers, Terry (Georgia) Ritchie of Macon, GA; Tony (Denice) Ritchie of Cynthiana; and Mark (Cindy) Ritchie of Carlisle. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Gary Johnson, parents Randall and Nancy (Booth) Ritchie and her grandparents Albert and Christine (Myers) Booth. Linda was a long time teacher and school administrator in Jessamine County, encouraging and inspiring her students for more than 30 years. In her retirement, she enjoyed golfing, traveling, and spending time with her many varied groups of friends. Linda and her late husband, Dave, were long-time members of Lone Oak Golf Course, and spent many weekends playing couples scrambles with friends. As a member of Jessamine Christian Church, she participated in the Happy Hearts women’s fellowship circle, Tuesday morning bible study, and volunteered time as a children’s Sunday School teacher. Linda will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, teacher, friend, golf partner, and, most importantly, as Nana to her beloved grandchildren. A visitation will be held at Jessamine Christian Church on Saturday, April 14th from 12-2 p.m. Memorial will be held at 2:00 p.m. with a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jessamine Christian Church or to Bluegrass Hospice Care.
