Linda Alice Bronson
November 10th, 1968 - April 7th, 2018
Linda Alice Bronson, age 49, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2018, in Lexington, KY. Linda was born in Pittsburg, KS, to Edith M. and Kenneth C. Bronson. Her lifelong passions for learning and horses were hinted at early on when she finished all of her first grade books by Thanksgiving, prompting her teacher to jump her ahead to second grade, and she began saving all of her allowance for riding lessons. She also loved music, which led to a bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Wichita State University, followed by private study in London and a master’s in piano from Texas Christian University. But her first love kept calling, and she moved to Kentucky in 1994, where she took courses at the Kentucky Equine Institute, studied natural horsemanship, and more recently, began driving carriages. Linda was a clothing buyer for 22 years at J&H in Lexington, a store she loved for its people, customers, and commitment to the outdoors, and where she was loved for her compassion and generosity. Linda is survived by her mother, Edith, of Topeka, KS; her brother, Brian Bronson, and sister-in-law, Carrie, of Overland Park, KS; her sister, Laura, of NYC; nephew Kenneth Bronson, his partner Kaylani Poff, and great-niece Kinsley Bronson; nephew David Bronson; and of course, her beloved horses, Houston and Bud, and her best canine friends, Samson and Briggs. A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 18 at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Road, in Nicholasville, KY, with time for sharing stories at 6:00 p.m. followed by a casual gathering until 8:00 p.m. In honor of Linda’s wardrobe of statement T-shirts, her family encourages everyone who has a shirt that celebrates kindness, generosity, equality, girl power, animals, the outdoors, or any of Linda’s passions – or just has a cool design -- to wear it to the celebration. Some of Linda's shirts will be available for friends to take as a remembrance. A more traditional service will be held at First Christian Church in Topeka, KS, on Friday, April 20 at 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Scott County Humane Society (http://www.sc4paws.org), the Kentucky Equine Humane Center (http://kyehc.org), or a local charity of your choice.
