Roger D. Campbell of Frankfort, Kentucky, died on April 25, 2018, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky, at the age of 74. Roger is survived by his wife Anita of Frankfort, his son Robert of Brooklyn, NY, and his sister Wanda Blunkall of Eminence, Missouri. He is preceded in death by his daughter Angela Dawn, and by his parents Marjorie “Marjie” Sherrell Campbell and Robert “Bob” Campbell. Roger was born in Rector, Missouri. His family later moved to Eminence, where Roger worked as a soda jerk at the Rexall Drugstore as a teenager. Drafted into the US Army in 1965, he served most of his deployment in Germany. Soon after meeting Anita at a drive-in theater a few months after discharge from the military, they married and moved to Piedmont, Missouri, where they had two children and where Roger was the store manager of Ward’s Supermarket for several years. The family moved to Frankfort in the early 1980s, where Roger was employed as a manager at Pic-Pac Supermarket for about fifteen years. Roger was known for his jokes and humor as well as for his kindness and gratitude, and his delicious grilling skills will be missed at summer family gatherings. He spent his later years happily and gently caring for his many cats and avidly watching, particularly, St. Louis Cardinals and UK Wildcats games on television. A celebration of Roger’s life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lexington VA Medical Center.
