Benjamin “Ben” L. Spaulding, Jr., 74, died April 26, 2018. He is survived by his wife Jacquelyn (Clark) Spaulding; sons Benjamin (Pia) Spaulding III, Rodney Spaulding, Cory Spaulding, Richard Spaulding and Wesley Spaulding; sisters Alice Edwards and Barbara (Butch) Anderson; brother Larry (Bonita) Spaulding; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Benjamin (Ella Mae) Spaulding and Christine (Napier) Spaulding and a brother Charles Spaulding. Ben was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army where he served by supporting our troops through the U.S Army Baseball team. His life seemed to be centered around baseball. Whether he was playing, coaching, mentoring, or rooting for his beloved Cincinnati Reds, Ben was front row, center. He also favored the UK Wildcats teams. He also was known throughout central Kentucky as a mentor to many young ball players who needed that extra dose of encouragement. Vocationally, he was the Director of Rick Management for LexTran. Ben was also an accomplished artist. For recreation, he enjoyed working in his yard and visiting with the neighbors. It didn’t matter where he was, from the barbershop to the board room, he was the same man every day. One of his unofficial titles given to him by then Mayor Teresa Isaacs was, “The Other Mayor”. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ben’s name to Believing In Forever, 501 W 6th St #250, Lexington, KY 40508 or www.believinginforever.com/contact/ There will be a visitation from 12-2PM, with the service at 2PM, Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Clark Legacy Center in Brannon Crossing, 601 East Brannon Road, Nicholasville, KY 40356
