Ruth Ofstad Beeghley
April 11th, 1932 - April 30th, 2016
Ruth (Ofstad) Beeghley passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 30. Ruthie was born on April 11, 1932 in Oregon. She loved the outdoors from day one and grew up with her three sisters skiing, playing with snakes, and generally enjoying all that nature had to offer. In 1951, Ruthie met and married the love of her life, Frank Beeghley. They spent much of their early years camping, hiking, fishing, waterskiing, and living a life of outdoor adventure before starting a family in 1962. She even won a fishing derby and was featured in Fishing and Hunting News. Ruthie was eternally humble but would smile with delight when reminded that she could out-fish almost anyone. Both Ruth and Frank loved their dogs. They showed Great Danes for several years and in her early twenties, Ruth created a champion in Jet Tiger. Like many of her family, Ruthie was an accomplished musician. She loved music and her instrument of choice was the organ, although she had played several other instruments as well. When she played, she played with her heart and the house filled with joy. Ruthie made helping others her lifes mission. She spent over 30 years working with Social Security helping people receive and understand their benefits. She showered her family with love and support throughout her life. Even our poorest decisions and most hairbrained schemes were met with encouragement, a hug, and a smile. After retiring, Ruthie took up golf. A natural athlete, she quickly became skilled and loved spending her time traveling and golfing with Frank. She also took great joy in hosting family and friends at their beach cabin. Many evenings there were shared around the table laughing, playing cards, and working jigsaw puzzles. Ruthie was loved by everyone who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband, Frank, her daughters Wendy and Debbie, grandchildren Kylie and Autumn, her sister Alice, and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends. She was preceded in death by her sisters Lavine and Judy, sister-in-law Barbara, and her parents. We invite you to attend a Celebration of Ruthies Life on Sunday, June 12 at 1:00 PM at the Edmonds Senior Center, 220 Railroad Ave, Edmonds, WA.
