Daniel Sullivan, 85, was called to Heaven on April 28, 2015. Dan, a celebrated Korean War veteran, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son and brother passed peacefully surrounded by his wife of 60 years, Anna Marie, and his four children, Kathy Turgano, Dan Jr.(Cindy), Dave Sullivan(Martha), and Maureen Clark (Todd); also survived by 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and his sister Georgia Galbreath. Born January 6, 1930, Burlington, WA, Dan graduated from Burlington-Edison High School and Western Washington University where he played football, baseball and was a member of the track team. Following his service in the Army, he completed his education and earned his Masters degree in Education. Dan retired from Northshore School District in 1988 after 32 years in education. One of Dans passions was his flower gardens and yard. He had an incredible green thumb, always producing some of the most beautiful rhododendrons, spectacular seasonal colors, and the greenest lawn imaginable. He took great pride in maintaining and appreciating everything he had worked so hard for in life. Whether it was tinkering in his shop, trying to get just one more mow from an aging lawnmower, or building a bird house for one of his kids, grandkids or neighbors; he experienced a great sense of joy in his accomplishments and helping others. Rarely did you see Dan without a bright, welcoming smile, offering a helping hand or assistance to those in need. Dan had the God-given ability to strike up a friendly conversation with anyone, providing a keen listening ear, offering guidance and encouragement. Dans greatest love and joy in life, was his wife and family. He was fully dedicated to raising and supporting his family. His unwavering work ethic and compassion he portrayed, provided a strong foundation for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to carry on the legacy of a great man. As our dad, Dan shared his thoughts and wisdom, providing his children with the opportunity of putting it all together, so that each could become the best person one can be. His advice, guidance, and direction was spot on, guiding us to never look back, and always look ahead; supporting our decisions with passion and energy. Memories of dad teaching us kids how to dig clams at Birch Bay, will be cherished always. Whether it was his many years of coaching football, basketball and baseball, or supporting his children and grandchildren as their biggest fan in their football, golf, volleyball, softball, baseball, or track and field, he was always there; never judgmental, yet optimistic and ever encouraging. Although Dan was taken from this earth and delivered to Heaven, the memories and examples he set for all to follow will never be forgotten. We will forever love you and miss you dearly. The memories will be with us always and our love for you will never be forgotten. m ;AR-SA You are our hero, see you in Heaven.
