Sharon Baumann

Sharon J. Baumann, 50, of Denver, Colorado passed away on July 1st, 2014. She was born on July 14th 1963 to John James Hodapp and Patricia Simms in Denver, Colorado. She attended high school at both East and Manual and continued on to graduate with a degree in business from the University of Colorado Boulder. Growing up, one of her passions was running. It allowed her to escape and think, to reflect and grow. The other was in the music she loved. The two fit hand in hand. She was married to George Baumann in 1990 and was later divorced in 1997. This marriage begat the pride of her life, her son and joy; James E. Baumann. Her second home aside from her loving neighborhood at Poplar Street was The Delectable Egg. Here she worked as both a server and manager making many great friends out of coworkers and guests along the way. It was here that she also met her future partner, Don Sparks. Sharon, Don and James grew into each other’s lives and made their home in Washington Park. In 2009 she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and fought valiantly for five years and became an inspiration to everyone that knew her. She was survived by her partner Don Sparks and son James Baumann of their home. Also by her brother Russell Hodapp of Sunrise Florida, her sister Kathy Gorley (Husband David) of Cleburne Texas, brother James Hodapp of Denver Colorado, sister Barbra Robertson (Husband Harold) of Denver Colorado, and sister Carolyn Carney (Husband Chad) of Warenville Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Michael Hodapp of Denver Colorado. Services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday July 9th at The Denver Athletic Club in Denver Colorado. The family requests festive colors in lieu of black.
