Joseph Louis Molitor, Jr.
November 25th, 1934 - October 6th, 2016
Joseph Louis (Jerry) Molitor November 25, 1934 - October 6, 2016 It is with sadness we report the passing of Joseph Louis (Jerry) Molitor, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. Jerry was the youngest of seven, a graduate of Seattle University, and spent much of his career in mortgage banking at Washington Federal, where he retired as senior VP. A gregarious man, Jerry loved nearly everyone he met. His giggle was legendary and could be heard throughout the entire 3rd floor of Washington Federals main office in downtown Seattle, usually indicating a dirty joke had been shared. His sense of humor brightened the lives of many.Jerry was known for his love of Studebakers, something born in him through his Dads love of them, too, which Jerry also passed down to his sons. Many hours were spent restoring, searching for parts and cool old Studes lounging in fields, going to meets, and serving for a time as President of the Antique Studebaker Club. His property on Shaw Island in the San Juans, which he purchased in 1971 and treasured for over 40 years, eventually housed three of the most pristine multi-bay garages you could imagine. Often, all were full. Jerry devoted the last 17 years of his life to the happiness of his wife, Lorelei St. John Molitor, who cared for him with fierce devotion. He often said he was born under a lucky star and faced many things others may have seen as difficulties with grace, looking for the bright side, focusing on the positive. After his diagnosis of stage 4 cancer he chose to fight in order to stay by Loreis side for as long as possible. When the cancer turned out to be extremely aggressive, he met the news with dignity, deciding to no longer fight but meet his death and spend as much quality time with his family as he could. As Lorei, his beloved wife, said often: You know where youre going. He did, and that brought him much peace. Jerry was predeceased by all of his siblings and by his oldest grandson, Thornton E. Ted Luttrell III. He is survived by his wife Lorelei; his children Teresa Molitor Luttrell, Scott Joseph Molitor (Stacy) and Kenneth Louis Molitor (Paula); by his grandchildren Erin Leigh, Elizabeth Fellars (Shreve), Lauren Molitor, Clay Molitor, AJ Molitor, Russ Molitor and Stan Molitor; and by Loreis children Noelle Hufty, Scott Hufty, and Tim Stoves (Jen) and Loreis grandsons Trevon and Benjamin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is dearly and deeply missed. Though he and Loreis main residence in latter years was in Oro Valley, AZ, where they had many friends, Dad spent his final months in Edmonds, WA. His request for his final days was for a view of the water. He loved boating, from the early days in a 32 lapstrake-hulled ChrisCraft with first wife Marilyn and kids, to grand adventures with Lorei in a Selene they had built just for them. It gave him great pleasure to watch boats and whales, tankers and cruise ships in his last months, along with the trains he loved so well. The smell of creosote, visceral thud of trains passing and musical sound of rigging dancing in the breeze will always remind us of Dad. We would love to hear stories; memories can be posted to the online guest book at href=http://www.becksfuneralhome.com/ www.becksfuneralhome.com.
