George Edward Banschbach
December 16th, 1930 - January 27th, 2016
George Edward Banschbach died peacefully on January 27, 2016. George was born December 16, 1930 to George Marcus Banschbach and Loretta (Witte) Banschbach in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. He was called Eddie by his large family that included two brothers, four sisters and many cousins from his parents large families. In 1951 George joined the Air Force and was stationed at Travis AFB in California. After leaving the Air Force in 1955, he worked as posting manager for the advertising company, Foster and Kleiser, in Oakland, California. He was transferred to Seattle in 1957. It was in the Seattle offices of Foster and Kleiser that he met his wife, Joanne. George and Joanne were married at St Therese in Seattle in 1959 and moved to Queen Anne Hill shortly thereafter. They eventually settled in Shoreline where they raised their four children, Susan, Steve, Linda and Dave. George loved the outdoors. He loved boating, fishing and camping with his family and friends. He was an avid golfer, especially in retirement, and scored a hole-in-one in 2002. He appreciated the camaraderie of his golfing buddies and they met almost daily, even when it rained and they could not golf. George was a husband and father first. He spent all of his free time with his family. He was always thinking of things his children would enjoy. He took his children camping, water skiing, fishing, and to Seattle Totems hockey games. He made games and go-carts and even an ice skating rink in the back yard. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, taking them to parks and beaches and construction sites or wherever their interests would take them. He had endless patience, a warm sense of humor and always had a mischievous look in his blue eyes when it came to teasing his grandchildren. George is survived by his wife, Joanne, his daughter, Sue, and son-in-law, Ross Cahoon, of Scottsdale, Arizona, his son, Steve, and daughter-in-law, Irene Banschbach, of Edmonds, Washington, his daughter, Linda Neumann, of Brier, Washington, his son, Dave, and daughter-in-law, Catherine Banschbach, of Kaneohe, Hawaii and his eight grandchildren and their spouses, Nicole and Mike Kowalski, Matt and Jenny Cahoon, Haydon and Emily Banschbach, Jacob Neumann, Nolan Neumann, Amelia Banschbach, Alex Banschbach and his great grandson, Aiden Kowalski. He is also survived by his brother, Bob and sister-in-law, Evie Banschbach, his sisters, Betty Cheevers, Dottie Brown, and Rosemary Wernke who live in and around Lawrenceburg, Indiana and many nieces and nephews.
