Dean Matthew White
November 11th, 1957 - August 28th, 2015
Dean M. White, 57, a longtime Edmonds resident, passed away on 8/28/15 following a short, but courageous battle with brain cancer. Dean was born on 11/11/57 to Richard Mary White and grew up in Pittsburgh, PA; graduating from Mt. Lebanon High School in 1975. He graduated at the top of his class from Purdue University with BS MS degrees in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering in 1978 1980. In his youth he enjoyed basketball, bicycling and the Boy Scouts. Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico held a special place in his heart. While at Purdue he received his private pilots license. In 1985 he married Lise Hastings White in Denver, CO. Together they had two children, Melissa in 1986 and Matthew in 1989. Dean relocated his family to Edmonds, WA in 1991. During his professional career as a consulting engineer, Dean lived and worked in Indiana, Colorado, California and Washington. From 2002 2015 he ran his own business, E3RA, Inc., with offices in Everett and Tacoma, WA. Dean was active in his community and was on the board of several organizations: Edmonds United Methodist Church, Everett Rowing Association, Washington Seaplane Pilots Association, Sons of the American Revolution, American Society of Civil Engineers and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. Dean was a model/garden railroad enthusiast and he enjoyed refurbishing old pinball machines. Our family historian, genealogy also fascinated him. He was passionate about his faith, his family, his friends and his flying! Dean is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Lise, devoted and loving children Melissa and Matt White, brother Mike White (Martha), sister Colleen Ward (Bill), and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends, colleagues and fellow pilots. A memorial service/reception will be held Sat. 9/12 at 2:30 at Becks Funeral Home, Edmonds, WA. A family graveside service will be held on 9/26 in Urbana, OH.
