All-States Cremation - Wheat Ridge
George Magee
May 18th, 1941 - April 28th, 2015
This week heaven received the most wonderful angel. Family and friends mourn the loss of George “Larry” Magee who courageously overcame his battle with cancer and went to his heavenly home on April 28, 2015 at the young age of 73. For all who met him and knew him, he was “larger than life” and made each feel loved and important from simply being in his presence. He never met a stranger. He was born in Dayton Ohio, May 18, 1941 to George C. Magee and Virginia M. (Hicks) Magee. He was a rock and loving brother to Marlene Counts (Pell City, AL), Anna Lee Brandehoff (Bob) (Wapakoneta, OH), Kathryn Slife (Richard) (Piqua, OH), and Kimberly Magee (who preceded him in death). He brought his family to the Lord. He was a favorite uncle to many of his nieces and nephews due to his continual jokes that kept everyone entertained. Larry married his high school sweetheart Jolene (Bolin) June 25, 1960 and showed the world and his children how to be an honorable and incredibly loving husband. During their 57 years together, they devoted themselves to their family, to other couple’s marriages, hundreds of foster children, their church family and the Lord. Larry was a loving father to his sons Mike (who preceded him in death), Tim, Ron (Carla) and two daughters, Bethany (Joe) Dukehart, and Megan (Marlena). He had such a loving impact on his grandchildren whether it was through continuing his scouting tradition with his grandsons, teaching many how to fish, trips to various states and events, or “farming” with the little ones. He was deeply loved as only grandchildren can love and will be missed by his grandchildren, Wiz, Michelle (Joel), Ty, Ian, TJ, Camille, Noah, Alex, Tabitha, and great-grandchildren Hailey (P), Lilah, Oliver, Owen and Hailey (H). He provided for and taught his family his great work ethic by serving 25 years at LeRoi Dresser as a sales technician, various other jobs, 13 years as a bus driver for Denver RTD and through his volunteer experiences with AmeriCorps after Hurricane Katrina, Brethren Disaster Ministry, and a youth experience with Brethren Volunteer Service, where those he served had a bigger impact on him than he felt he had on them. He loved the Lord and though his physical presence will be missed he will forever live in the hearts of those he touched.
