Richard Roderick Lines
June 11th, 1923 - July 15th, 2013
Richard (Dick) Roderick Lines of Edmonds, loving husband of Patricia Lines, passed away on July 15, 2013 at the age of 90. Richard was born at Swedish Hospital in Seattle on June 11, 1923 to Robert and Marie Antoinette Lines. He was the youngest of three sons along with brothers, Charles W. and Robert L. Lines. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1941. In 1941 Dick began working at Washington Mutual Savings Bank, in downtown Seattle, shortly after his graduation. During his career of 41 years, he opened the Aurora Village Branch in 1961 and the Vancouver Branch in 1967, where the Lines family lived for 11 years. During the eleven years in Vancouver, Dick was active in many civic organizations. He was President of the Vancouver Chamber of Commerce in 1973 and President of the Vancouver Rotary Club. Chairman of the following organizations: Campaign Committee of Clark County, United Good Neighbors Campaign, Citizens Committee for Good Schools and was awarded the prestigious Golden Acorn Award. In 1978 Dick and Patricia returned to Edmonds, and Dick returned to bank headquarters. He retired in 1983 as Vice-President and Regional Manager of Washington Mutual Savings Bank. He loved sports, especially the UW Huskies and Seattle Seahawks. He enjoyed golfing, music, photography and working crossword puzzles. Dick is survived by his wife Patricia; his sons, Michael, Jeffrey and Gregory and daughters-in-law Chris (Jeff) and Colleen (Greg); and several nieces and nephews. A memorial mass will be held August 16 th at 11:00 am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 630 7 th Ave. N. Edmonds, WA 98020. The family requests in lieu of flowers to make donations to: Childrens Hospital, MS S-200, PO Box 5371, Seattle, WA 98145-9807.
