120% Born in Seattle, WA 10-27-1927 to Howard and Mary Anderson. He moved to Edmonds from Seattle in 1935 where he attended Edmonds Elementary School and graduated from Edmonds High School in 1946. He enlisted in the Army immediately after high school and served for 2 years. 120%; 120% Andy worked for the BNSF Railroad and the Washington State Ferry System and eventually opened Andys Boat House right next to the ferry dock in Edmonds, WA. He rented and launched boats there until 1962 when he opened Anderson Marine Sales and Service. He sold the property to the City of Edmonds for use as a park in 1992 when he retired (should have been named Anderson Marine Park). 120%; 120% Andy was a member of the Northwest Marine Trade Assoc and served as Treasurer and Board of Directors. He was a lifetime member of the Seattle Outboard Assoc., a member of the American Power Boat Association holding the APBA Category Chairmanship for 10 years, and member of the APBA Board of Directors. 120%; 120% Andy wanted to race cars but his mother said NO so he began his career as an avid boat racer in 1952. He built his own boat and didnt finish a race for 3 years. (BSR then known as B Utility first race 1949 on Sammamish Slough). He had a distinguished career in hydro racing and was a winner of the Sammamish Slough race three times, National Champion, National High point in multiple classes, World Record Holder (at 72 years of age), winner of Offshore exhibition regatta, chosen member of the APBA Honor Squadron, the highest honor award. He was the longest continuous racer in APBA 55+ years. It was what he did and loved. Andy never needed an excuse to have a party. 120%; 120% Andy had three children, Howard (Leanne), Jim (Chris) and Michele (Mark) with his first wife, Mary Ann. He later married his best friend and the love of his life Penny. He helped raise her 4 children: Jeff, John, Susan, and Sheryl. Together they have 13 grandchildren: Shayna, Casey, Riley, Emily, Samantha, A.J., Christian, Jeffery, Stacia, Matthew, Ashley, Colin, Teagan; and one expected new arrival on Nov. 15, 2013, as well as four great grandchildren.
