All-States Cremation - Wheat Ridge
Rose Martinez
September 17th, 1932 - June 1st, 2010
“Maria R. B. Martinez, known to most of her friends and family as Rose Martinez, died at 77 years of age. She had been residing most recently at the Highline Rehab and Care Community in Denver, Colorado. Rose passed away peacefully on June 1, 2010. She had suffered from dementia for a number of years. Rose was born September 17, 1932 in La Villita, N.M. Her parents were Elvira and Teofilo Medina. She was one of fourteen siblings. Her first marriage was to Eliu Martinez and they had three daughters, Marilyn, Deborah, and Brenda. Her second marriage was to Daniel Garcia. She was divorced at the time of her death although she had a special brief engagement to Eugene Gomez prior to her illness and who remained a true and committed friend to her. Rose had a love for the Catholic Church and while she was able she most relished in her love of Jesus by serving as a chalice bearer during holy communion services. In later years, Rose regretted that she was not able to complete a college degree. She had a sharp mind and was talented with her hands as well. Many persons came to know Rose through her love of crafts and jewelry making. Rose pushed her children to pursue their education and took pleasure in their accomplishments. Her talent for organization and determination in the face of hard work allowed her to hold many positions in social organizations over her adult years. Her joys in life included her two chihuahuas, Princess and GeeGee, who are cared for by Eugene and dancing with Eugene, her favorite dance partner. Many persons remember her for her kindnesses, inviting smile, and her charity, even at times when she herself was in need. Her love of children, especially babies, allowed her to be the godparent of many baby boys and girls and caretaker of others. At one time she was voted Grandmother of the Year at Tomasita Elementary in Albuquerque. Rose is survived by her three daughters, Marilyn (Paul), Deborah
