Veronica C. Martinez, 49, passed away July 30, 2014. Veronica is preceded in death by her parents Ruben J. Martinez and Ramona I. (Renner) Martinez. She leaves behind a daughter Jaslyn N. Graham, 3 grandchildren (and one grandchild on the way). She is laid to rest by her siblings: Laura (Ruben) Zaragoza, Nash Martinez, Lynn (Fred) Garcia, Cecelia (Patrick (deceased)) Garcia, Mary (Robert) Perez, Vincent Martinez and Jessica Maestas. She is also survived by Uncles, Aunts, cousins and numerous nephews and nieces Veronica is a 3 time cancer survivor. She also battled other illnesses during her life and is praised for the “soldier” she had become. As she struggled through disabilities her family found great pride in the abilities she did possess, such as living alone and taking care of all her own affairs up until the time of her passing. She had become a woman that her family looked up to due to her strength and bout to survive. In honor of her long battle with several illnesses her remains were donated to Science Care in the hopes of finding a cure. Veronica will not only be remembered for her feistiness but for her ability to make a decision and stand her ground. It is known among family that she was in charge of her life up until her last breath. She will be remembered for her love of the 80’s, lowriders and her love of her German heritage and Spanish culture. Memorial services will be August 22, 2014 at New Life in Christ, 1380 Ammons St., Lakewood, CO 80214 at 10:00 a.m., with interment at Mt. Olivet, 12801 W. 44th Ave, Wheatridge, CO 80033, and fellowship will follow at New Life in Christ at 1:00. Her final resting place will be at Mt Olivet, where she will have stability, as she did in the Quigg Newton Housing Complex in North Denver where she resided for the last 23 years of her life among friends. Some of her ashes will be spread over Taos, NM., (where members of her Renner family have also been laid to rest) as well as across the U.S., as Veronica has instructed her daughter to do. Goodbye “Mama Smurf” you will be dearly missed among a host of family and friends who carry many fond, loving, caring, warm and affectionate memories of you.
