Our beloved Dakotah passed away on February 12, 2017. Dakotah poured a remarkable amount of living into nineteen jam packed years, and left us far too soon. He was born on April 5, 1997 in Edmonds WA, graduated from Saint Brendan Elementary School and Bothell High School, and was attending Bellevue College.Dakotah is survived by his mom and dad, Leilani and Joel George; his grandparents Mike and Belle Dunn and LaRene George; his great grandmother Alma Dunn; uncles Frank and Mike Dunn and Chip and Mike George; aunt Lori George; thirteen cousins; and countless friends and extended family members.Dakotah was generous and genuine, sweet and serious, curious and committed, and gifted athletically. He had a big heart and a contagious smile, and brightened the lives of everyone he came in contact with. He was wise beyond his years, and gave good counsel to all who needed it, including his mom and dad. He was his dads best friend and a source of comfort and joy to his mom.An avid football player from the age of eight, who his dad proudly coached for many years, Dakotah capped his sports career as a quarterback for the Bothell Cougars. He also enjoyed CYO basketball and was a star hurdler for the Bothell track and field team. He loved camping and hiking; served as an altar server at his church; benefitted from an encyclopedic memory and delighted in engaging all comers on topics far and wide, from geology to archaeology, politics, and free market economics; and cherished his family heritage, which extended from the Hawaiian Islands to the Cherokee reservation in North Carolina, the desolation of the Hungarian Banat, and the wild steppes of Russias Volga River.Dakotah enjoyed many deep friendships formed at Saint Brendan and Bothell High, and during those many years on the football field. And Dakotahs love for family was unbounded. His was a constant and comforting presence, through good times and bad, and we are bereft without him. He embraced his large Dunn and George families and stayed close to his grandmas and grandpa, and no family gathering was complete without him. Sporting contests, holidays and birthdays, Sunday dinners all life events, big and small, were celebrated or grieved over together. And he loved those many family vacations, from the annual Leavenworth tradition at Christmas season to the beaches of Seaside, Cannon Beach, and Stone Harbor, time with his tutu in Hawaii, and a trip down the Danube River in Central Europe to trace the migration of his George and Reiner forebears.Today our pain and sorrow are profound, and our grief nearly unbearable, but equally strong is our joy in knowing that Dakotah has been freed from his pain and delivered to Gods good care. The Funeral Service is Saturday February 18 at 10:00am at Saint Brendan Catholic Church, 10051 NE 195 th St, Bothell WA; immediately followed by a reception at the church.
